UW/PC is the IBM PC compatible version of the UW multi-windowing terminal emulator first developed for the Macintosh by John Bruner. UW/PC can emulate an ADM31 or VT52 terminal but does not support ANSI emulation or file transfer. UW/PC utilizes John Bruner’s UW server code running on the UNIX side, so you first will need to install the UNIX back end of UW under UNIX in order to use it. This program is more than a little buggy, so be careful.

PC Fax Boards
Suggestion
Fax96 (with 1-Liner) $199
The Fax96 with 1-Liner can cohabit with an answering machine on a single phone line. This means that you won’t have to have a dedicated phone line to receive faxes. This not only saves you the monthly phone bill, but the cost of a voice/fax switch as well. The latest version works with Windows.

Modems for Use With UUCP
Recommendation
Telebit Worldblazer $635
The WorldBlazer is a V.32bis/V.42bis modem that also supports Turbo PEP, an enhanced version of Telebit’s Packetized Ensemble Protocol. It also supports “protocol spoofing,” (which dramatically boosts the speed of UUCP communications). This is the modem you want to communicate to Internet or UUCP-net at the fastest possible speed. I don’t know why other modem makers don’t support protocol spoofing on their V.32bis/V.42bis modems. Do you?
